Orthopedist
Dr. Ján Berec, MD, MPH was born on 15th December 1972 in the town of Trenčín, Czechoslovakia. He attended Military Medical Academy in Hradec Králové, Czechoslovakia and graduated at University of P.J.Šafárik School of Medicine in Košice, Slovak republic.
Dr.Berec is board certified in general medicine, general surgery and trauma surgery. He completed a Critical Care Fellowship at Jackson Memorial Medical Center/University of Miami, Florida, USA. He has been serving in a military service for 22 years.
During his professional career he has been dedicated to sports, especially volleyball. He acted as a Slovak Volleyball Men's Team physician as well as Head Doctor of Slovak Volleyball Federation for 18 years.
Dr.Berec was also active at the field of volleyball administrative and diplomacy. He held a position of CEV (European Volleyball Confederation) Medical Commission Secretary for almost 10 years.
He currently is in charge of Slovak Armed Forces Military Hospital and simultaneously practicing Ortho/Trauma and Sport Traumatology in University Hospital - St.Michael Hospital in Bratislava. His main field of interest is arthroscopy of shoulder, knee, ankle and arthroplasty of hip and knee.
