The point is that there is something hiding in every player, everyone has the potential to become a good/excellent player. It is important to find what are the good qualities in the player. Sometimes the good is found by the coach or by the player himself.
There is always a way to make it. Sometimes a player has talent from God and from the moment on if he touches the ball, he achieves one success after another. For others it might take a little longer because it will require more hard work, physical or mental.
It will take them time to search for what they actually excel in or until they discover their strengths and then it will take some time to find out how to practice the new skills.
The less skilled and talented the player is, the better the coach needs to be. If the player or the team has a weaker coach and for a long time he teaches the incorrect technique, the longer it takes to relearn it correctly (if that is even possible).
I remember that when I came to play to Perugia (Italy) the head coach Vincenzo Di Pinto told me- you have a bad technique on your hitting hand, you do not play in defense at all (which, by the way, was true until the last match of my entire playing career- :)), you are not moving correctly on the blocks …. I don’t know if I did anything good at all. And he was right. So, I started working hard at an age when I was already getting paid to play highly competitive volleyball. At an age, when I thought how good of a player I already was, I was changing the technique that I had learned incorrectly in the past. It took me several weeks to learn how to hit even the gym, not to mention trying to hit the inside of the court. However, since I had amazing teammates around me who had the patience with me changing my technique, I finally managed to get in shape and perform greatly even during that same season.
